Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy is also known as Endodontics. It is needed when there is an infection in the tooth causing pain. The inside of a tooth is called pulp. When the bacterial infection infects the root system or pulp of the tooth, it causes pain, inflammation, hypersensitivity to hot and cold, and discomfort. Treatment is necessary to ease the pain. By the time root canal therapy is needed, the tooth is already dead inside. The treatment requires the decayed tooth to be cleaned and filled. Thereby keeping the functionality of the tooth. Depending upon how much the tooth has decayed and is broken it may require a cap or a seal to protect the tooth and the filling. Root Canal treatment, with proper care, may last a lifetime.

Tooth extraction is also an option, but that may lead to many more treatments like developing a dental implant or a bridge. Whereas, root canal helps save your natural tooth.
